Agapanthus, also known as the Nile or African Lily flowers in the height of summer and can be found growing in great swathes around Cornwall, particularly in the west of the Duchy. The name Agapanthus has a Greek origin and is a combination of the words “agape” and “anthos” which means “love” and “flower”. In symbolism the Agapanthus represents love, beauty and purity.
